Tim 'The Shadow' Drummond
The captain of RCC. Will lead by example, but only if it’s copying what his brother has done first. His body has begun to fall apart since he’s turned 25, so may require a runner at some stage. Will be a good source of sun protection for players, as they only need to stand next to him to be in the shade as he is stuck in his brother’s shadow. Will not create too much of a headache for the opposition, as he will eventually hit a ball straight to a fielder and get himself out. He has claimed he’s the best batsman in his family, however, some believe this is an attempt to take the spotlight away from him being inferior in every other aspect of the game.
Captain
Morrison ‘Raw Power’ Bent
Has there ever been more hype around a cricketer in recent memory? In our opinion, yes. Bent will utilise his overall raw power in his performance, which was seen when he broke a couch when celebrating a goal on FIFA. His craftiness with the ball may be overshadowed by his unnervingly nice persona, that will most likely see him apologise to you when you get him out. Will be a handy player, and may put off the opposition by providing excited sound effects when the ball comes near him. Could be a good chance to be timed out by not making it to the crease in time, but that’s if he even gets to the match itself.
Sam 'Life of the Party' Forster
Mr resourceful. Forster has purchased all his cricket gear second hand, with the intention of improving it and selling it after the game is over. His cricketing strengths are his speed and his dance moves, which he will use to distract the opposition if there is any music being played. Forster allows for some new tactics to be used, as he won’t need a wicketkeeper when bowling due to his ability to get to the other end in time to do it himself. He will be looking forward to taking a victory into the YMCA cricket season, however he may bowl some gentle half-volleys to J. Dunstan in order to not get fired from his job.
Cameron 'Tickets' Wells
Wells is a batsman that can access both sides of the wicket, a craft that he has perfected by swiping both left and right on Bumble. He can be a big presence in the field, but could be in danger of making some mistakes as he is prone to overestimating his own abilities. It could be a good tactic to bowl short to him as he struggles to pull, something that is very evident on Saturday nights in Mornington. Wells will be feeling confident in taking out the MVP of his team, as he is good friends with the captain. Was looking like a very dangerous proposition for RCC, however he has fallen in love three times already this week which may have hampered his preparation.
Jacob 'Man Hands' Mehrtens
With great hands, comes great responsibility. Mehrtens has been attempting to source out custom cricket gloves, however all the providers have stated that they do not currently have enough leather. He is looking to become the best male cricketer at Red Hill Primary, and is very likely to deposit both the ball and his bat into the bay on the same shot. A handy acquisition for RCC, and will use his cricketing strengths in banter rather than focusing on anything to do with the bat or ball. He has recently been practicing self-implementation of the Heimlich Maneuver, as he is prone to choking in high-pressure situations.
Andrew 'Anchovy' Richardson
Richardson is a well-rounded cricketer with equal talents in each facet of the game, unfortunately these talents are much like his knees, very temperamental. Can be known to get very salty at decisions and performances, and could be very likely to get a warning for dissent from the umpire, even if he is not on the field. Took some time off this year from training in order to refresh before the cup, and reportedly “found himself” on his trip to Europe. Will be expecting to experience some good partnerships with Wells, however he may get jealous of Wells’ batting position and try and steal it.
Michael 'Daddy' Evans
Being the only father in the competition (that we know of), Evans has the most to play for. His inclusion in the side may be tactical, as it allows the club to have a future father-daughter selection. Evans has a solid cricketing background, and could be a danger man with both bat and ball, although he may not be as effective in the second innings as it will be too close to his bed time. There are rumours that he has just recently acquired a new bat sponsor in Johnson’s Baby. Known to be surprisingly good at competitions he is not meant to be good at, as seen on FIFA, it will be interesting to see how he performs at a sport he is actually alright at.
