Serious questions are being asked at the Moondah Cricket Club today, after it was announced that Robert Mace had been dropped.
In a statement on the clubs website, they wrote that “Robert and the MCC have agreed to mutually part ways”.
The specialist fielder’s seven days with the club has been marred with the ‘pissgate’ controversy. With police continuing to investigate who perpetrated the public urination.
In an impromptu interview on the side of the road, Mace continued to profess his innocence. “I’ve told you and the police that it was James Graham!” he said, “now has anyone seen him? He was supposed to pick me up an hour ago?”
In a cruel twist, Mace’s replacement was announced as Jack Dunstan, who was originally not selected in favour of Mace. Dunstan had reportedly sent an angry text to the club captain (and all round nice guy) Mitch Drummond wanting answers, could this have been the catalyst for Mace’s demise?
The Guardian has contacted Drummond for comment.
