Primary School marred by playground violence: Investigation underway
A local primary school has been embroiled in controversy as teachers Jacob Mehrtens and James Graham were called into the principal’s office to explain a lunchtime disruption between the two.
“This is something I expect to see coming from two prep students, not two of my teachers,” said the principal, “disappointed is an understatement”.
It is reported that a fight broke out between Mr. Mehrtens and Mr. Graham after Graham proceeded to deliver five full tosses at Mehrtens’ head, in what was described as an attempt “to show superiority”.
“After the first one I thought it was just a mistake, as I had heard of his erratic reputation as a bowler” commented Mehrtens, “then the third one in a row happened and I thought, hang on something is up here, and after the fifth one I’d had enough and let him have it!”
If not for two grade six students stepping in and stopping the teachers, the conflict may have gotten even more out of hand. The students Billy and Matthew, who are notorious for being trouble makers, said this was the worst fight they have seen at the school and even they had to stop it.
Fortunately for Mehrtens and Graham, they only received warnings. Whether this rivalry will remain heated during the tournament remains to be seen.
